Moving up in your career can take more than keeping your head down and working hard. While improving your resume and professional skills are important, you also need to make an impression on those around you. Skin Care
Skin care may seem like it is just for women, but men need to take care of their skin, too. No matter what type of skin you have, you can find products that keep your skin healthy, bright and fresh to make a positive impression.
To start, exfoliate once or twice a week with a scrub to keep your pores clear. Try using a glycolic acid face wash in the morning and at night to get rid of any dead skin.

Wardrobe
When it comes to your professional wardrobe, remember quality over quantity. You want to build a wardrobe of well-made, interchangeable pieces that you can use to create a variety of different outfits. Make sure to dress appropriately for your industry, and always make sure to dress up rather than dress down.
As a baseline, invest in pants and jackets in black, navy, grays or other neutrals. Then, add color in button up shirts and patterns through ties. In addition, finding a tailor to fit your suit jackets and pants to your body type is worth the investment. For suits, you need to consider how the jacket fits across your chest, neck, shoulders and the length of sleeves. The same rule applies for slacks and other professional clothing. They need to be the correct length and fit to your body without being too tight.
Hair Style and Accessories
Along with skincare, your hair style and any accessories help to complete your overall look. Follow some of these guidelines to look professional:
- If you have longer hair, style it so it looks managed and orderly. For women, consider pulling your hair back or going for a more conservative style. For men, try using a pomade, like this one from Aveda, to style your hair after you shower.
