This aspect is definitely something that most of us needs to work on until it becomes automatic. It also comes down to passion. How passion are you when you talk about something. I find myself being more authentic and expressive in both my voice and body when I am talking about things that I stand strongly on and I enjoy talking about.

Another tip is to record yourself telling a story or talking to a friend and analyzing what you need to fix.

Great Article Jay. As always.

One thing I noticed in the Martial arts that newer students are usually afraid to use their voice. They cannot shout the commands, they some how fear projecting their voice. As time goes on with practice their voice gets louder, and stronger, when they reach the next level of training their voices are even more powerful, and when they reach the advanced stage before black belt they are booming with confidence and a loud voice. Simply using their voice their confidence sky rockets! I mean learning how to defend yourself and express your body helps too, but the discipline of using the voice is empowering.
