Creating a COMPLETE look

Whatever style you go with, remember to create a COMPLETE look. I see a lot of guys who have trouble with this — They may be rocking an expensive pair of dress shoes with the remainder of the outfit being of much lower caliber. Wearing a nice graphic tee with your old, out-of-style gap jeans is not going to work–the tackiness of the jeans will negate any effect the shirt may have had.

The point is this: You don’t want women to be thinking “Oh that’s a stylish shirt that guy’s wearing… oh but look at his lame jeans…”

You want them be thinking:

“That’s one stylish guy.”

This only comes with a complete look–from head to toe.

A great way to achieve a complete look is going to a store like Express or Neiman Marcus and trying out the display outfits on the manikins. Usually, since they are displaying the latest styles in season, they will have every piece from outerwear to the shirt to the jeans already matched. Just look for the identical items in the store, or ask one of the workers for the pieces on the display manikin. Try on a bunch of these display outfits to get a feel for what a complete outfit looks like. Keep this in mind every time you are putting together an outfit. Things should be complimenting each other instead of clashing.

That’s a very nice look, with one exception: his jacket is a “bit” too tight and his head looks a little “squeezed”. Otherwise, a very nice look, especially for guys who have a smaller body frame.

For guys who are not in perfect shape, I would suggest clothes that are not as form fitting and tight.

I would recommend finding an attractive girl at the store to help you put together an outfit. I once worked for a retail store and found that they were supposed to set up the mannequins with certain outfits, many of them often times just simply didn’t work. One of them even had THREE different polos layered, all collars popped, with a sweater on top, a cheap belt, and jeans.

Often times the tie/shirt combos were terrible too (and these were matches that came from corporate!)

So yeah, definitely bring along a girl, or find one to help you shop.
